Deer Park is centered at the intersection of Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue, with its boundaries extending to the Rosedale ravine in the east, Farnham Avenue in the south, Avenue Road in the west, and the Belt Line trail in the north on the west side of Yonge Street. Deer Park is home to the distinguished private school Upper Canada College. Deer Park is also home to one of Toronto's oldest cemeteries, St. Michael's Cemetery, which was opened by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto on September 28, 1855.
The area is characterized by charmind tree lined streets and stately homes. Two notable Deer Park houses:
42 Heath Street West - It gained fame when after a stakeout, Canada's most notorious bank robber at the time, Edwin Boyd leader of the Boyd Gang, was captured in this house on March 15, 1952. Of note too is 50 Heath Street West - Constructed in 1923, the McNamara House is a rare example of the prairie school style of architecture in Toronto.
